Q. What
rest periods do we get?
A. Rest periods are calculated in
accordance with the Working Time Act 1997. This act sets out
statutory rights for employees in respect of rest periods as follows.

15 minutes break after working 4.5
hours

30 minutes break after 6 hours
(inclusive of the 15 minute break). Rest breaks are not necessarily
paid and are not considered as ‘working time’.

11 consecutive hours rest in each
24 hour period.

24 hour consecutive rest per week,
proceeded by the 11 hour rest. (Therefore you are not allowed to
work a day shift following a night shifts or vis-versa.)
