Assistant Director of Nursing
The appointed person will be assigned to assist the Director of Nursing in the overall functioning / operations and day to day running of the company.
Responsibility will include assisting the Director of Nursing in the efficient management of resources, the assignment of work, and monitoring the quality of staffs’ performance
The post is full-time and permanent, following a probationary period of six months.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be registered on the General and/or Psychiatric Division of An Bord Altranais or be eligible to register.
Must have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience, some of which must have been at managerial level.
THE POST HOLDER WILL
Assist the Director of Nursing to manage resources efficiently and effectively to ensure the continuous quality improvement in service.
The role of the Assistant Director of Nursing will include being actively involved in the supervision of the daily working routine.
Facilitate team building and motivation.
Assist in formulating, managing and implementing best practice policies and procedures.
Contribute to the strategic management and planning process.
KEY DUTIES:
Assume the role of Person In Charge in the absence of The Director of Nursing
Assist in monitoring the implementation of care plans.
Ensure audit systems are in place to facilitate the constant evaluation of service and client care.
Assist the Director of Nursing in monitoring and investigating all complaints and clinical incidents
CLINICAL/PROFESSIONAL
Encourage and facilitate staff innovation in nursing practice.
Assist the Director of Nursing in ensuring that policies, procedures and standards are developed, revised and implemented.
Assist in the development and evaluation of quality initiatives and clinical audits to ensure that the best quality of services and practices are provided within available resources.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Assist in implementing annual staff development and performance review.
Assist in managing staff rostering, staff sickness and absenteeism in accordance with Company guidelines.
EDUCATION
Ensure that staff receives induction/orientation, and are provided with the opportunities to attend in-service training and other appropriate educational programmes and seminars.
Facilitate learning from nursing practice through reflection and critical incident analysis.
SELF DEVELOPMENT
Be cognisant of the latest developments in health care and nursing practice.
Attend and participate in conferences, seminars and other research/educational activities regionally.
